Interdisciplinary Arts Studio
Variety of new art forms in recent decades often transcends conventional boundaries of one art discipline and creates grounds for recognition of this phenomenon in an art education institution. In 2002, the Interdisciplinary Arts Studio was established as a part of the Art Fundamentals Department to better integrate into study programs such disciplines as video art, photography, object art, computer graphics, computer modeling, and exhibition/art project curating. Faculty members of the Studio promote experimental and conceptual art projects that originate at the intersection of fundamental art disciplines. The Studio fosters non-conventional creative thinking, innovative artistic imagination, as well as usage and synthesis of new materials and technologies in art production. Students implement artistic projects that involve photography, video, computer graphic, object art, installation, and performance. Experience acquired in interdisciplinary projects helps them in their major studies. The Studio has at its disposal analogue and digital video recording, editing and display equipment, photo cameras, and two up-to-date computer classrooms equipped with 2D and 3D graphic software.Although at present the Interdisciplinary Arts Studio does not have its own academic program, preparations are made to open a digital technology design and photography program in the future.
