As a subdivision of the Department of Art Fundamentals, the Drawing Studio organizes and supervises drawing training programs in Kaunas Art Faculty. Since drawing is a fundamental discipline for all arts in comprehending specificities of rendering line, composition, perspective, light effects and modeling, it is taught for all KAF students in the first three years. In the 3-year program students acquire strong skills in sketching and academic drawing by performing drawing assignments of increasing complexity: from still-life to nude drawing. The types of drawing assignments include drawing from life, drawing from memory, and creative drawing. The content of a drawing curriculum varies depending on a major program of the student. Fourth-year undergraduate and graduate students are given a wide choice of drawing techniques and ways of expression they can use to promote their creativity and to match drawing assignments with their diploma projects.The Drawing Studio has a methodic archive of drawings, a collection of plaster models and other equipment required for drawing training. Just like the whole Department of Art Fundamentals, the Drawing Studio keeps friendly relations with the Latvian Academy of Art. Faculty Studio Head Assoc. prof.
