Admissions

Since Kaunas Art Faculty is a part of Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts (VAFA), admission procedures for international students are set and administered by the International Relations Office of VAFA. However, it is recommended that international students willing to undertake a course of study at KAF contact the appropriate KAF department first.

International students coming to VAFA’s Kaunas Art Faculty under an exchange program or bilateral agreement are subject to rules and conditions of the program or agreement and as a rule are exempt from tuition fees. Other students known as “free movers” are expected to cover tuition costs, which vary depending on a number of credits and a chosen study program.

The exchange students are advised to contact the coordinator at their home university to get more detailed information and application forms for exchange study. All other students may get general admission information and application forms directly from International Relations Office at VAFA.

Please contact:
International Relations Office of VAFA
Phone: (+370 5) 2105463
Fax: (+370 5) 2105444
E-mail: konstantinas.bogdanas@vda.lt

The filled application form together with a student’s portfolio and a motivation letter must be submitted to the Faculty in observance of the deadlines, which are as follows:
June 1 for the autumn semester,
November 15 for the spring semester.

Language

Although the language of instruction in VAFA and Kaunas Art Faculty is Lithuanian, the specificity of studies (students do a lot of practical work in the studio) allows to take general and specific art courses not only in Lithuanian as many faculty members know some foreign language (mostly English).
Please contact the appropriate KAF department to find out about availability of specific courses in foreign languages.

Cost of Living

According to recent calculation, the total monthly living expenses for a single student in Kaunas is around LTL 900.. This sum represents minimum living cost, which includes accommodation, food, necessary clothing, transport and school supplies. Students expecting to spend money on travel, entertainment, specific health care needs, etc. should consider accordingly larger expenses.

Housing

Kaunas Art Faculty does not have a student dormitory. Most students, who are not Kaunas residents, rent apartments and rooms in the private sector. Rent for a single-room apartment with a bathroom and kitchen in Kaunas starts from LTL 300-400 per month.
In some cases, the Faculty can assist international students in finding an apartment for rent or getting accommodation in the dormitories of other universities in Kaunas. Please make sure to contact the Faculty with inquiries about housing at least 2 months before arriving in Kaunas.
